Movin', movin' movin

I apologize for my lack of posting here. It's just that we've been moving back into the house which I love and thought I would never see again! When we moved to California, we didn't sell our house for several reasons (not the least of which was that there was no way we could ever afford a house in California, so what was the point?) So we just rented out our brand new house and I mentally detached myself from it. Through a series of events, we have been able to move back into it, and I must admit that it feels a little strange, though in a good way. I'm sure I will get used to it, though!

This will come out in the newsletter next week, but I'm giving you a little sneak peek at what is to come in the month of October. It is Family Portrait Month, and the Professional Photographers of America sponsors Operation Smile by having participating photographers donate $25 from each session. Operation Smile is an organization that provides surgery to correct cleft palates for children in developing countries. It truly is a worthy cause, and you need a family Christmas picture anyway, right?

To sweeten the deal, the first person to book a session for October will get a FREE set of 25 Christmas cards! I'm very excited about the cards I'm offering this year and will post some samples soon! You can go to Blue Prints Photography for my contact information. Everyone else who books for October will get a free 8x10 portrait. The donation from your session can literally change the life of a child. What better Christmas present is there?

Why be traditional?

On my website, I have samples of magazine-style birth announcements that are so fun and original. After I did the photo shoot of Josh and Jen, I thought, "Why not do a magazine-style wedding announcement?" So I did, and I think it's awesome, if I do say so myself. They love it, too, which is the best compliment of all.

Josh and Jenn

One of these people was a model for Abercrombie and Fitch. Can you tell which one? I didn't think so. This couple is GORGEOUS and they were so fun to work with! Josh was totally laid-back and joking around the whole time. He reminded me of my little brother. Jenn was the more serious of the two, but she was totally game for anything I suggested. After our two hours were up, we all wanted to do more! It was so fun! But Josh was starving, so they had to go look for "cheese on a stick." (Jenn's cute friend and assitant/camera guard extraordinaire was responsible for the "cheese on a stick" comment. Totally cracked me up).

Pink album

As promised, here are some page samples from my new pink album that I am offering. I could stare at them all day. And if these pages were filled with pictures of your little girl, you could stare at them for a lifetime. Click on the image to view the pages in greater detail.

Warm and fuzzy feelings from photography

The following pictures are of the sweetest little family with the sweetest little mom who happens to be one of my good friends. When she and her husband got married, it was on a beautiful fall day. The trees were full of resplendent color, and their wedding portraits promised to be phenomenal. Until their photographer's equipment was stolen out of his car, along with all their pictures, save one roll of film that had managed to roll under the seat. But there was only one picture of them on it. Since that time, they had only had the occasional Christmas portrait taken, and no professional pictures of their youngest daughter. This situation was entirely unacceptable! So I remedied it. And the pictures are gorgeous. And there was much rejoicing in the land. (Please forgive my silliness, but I am just giddy over these pictures, and I know my friend will be, too).

Oh my goodness, I love what I do!

If it seems like I'm always fawning over children on this blog, it's because I am! I think they are God's most beautiful creation. Take this 9-month-old, for example. The eyes, the hair, the smile! It just doesn't get any better than this!

I can't decide which of these I like best. Which do you vote for? Color, or black and white?

Summertime

It's summertime in Denver. That means flowers are in bloom and beautiful girls are in sweet white dresses. There is nothing more precious than sisters holding hands. These girls were absolute dolls, as you can see from the pictures below. The last one has a special color treatment that I just love. I can't stop staring at these girls! With faces as perfect as these, how can I help it?

Complete album

I just finished making this album for one of my clients, and she has graciously allowed me to post it. It is absolutely beautiful, and I can't wait to give it to her! (I also offer this album in pink and will be posting some samples soon!)

Baby Daniela

My best friend Jana and her husband Ricardo adopted a baby girl in December of 2007. The adoption became final last weekend, so my family and I drove to Utah to witness the blessing and sealing of Baby Daniela to Ricardo and Jana. In our faith, being "sealed" means that our family relations can last through eternity, not just until death do us part. It is the most wonderful thing that a couple or family can have happen to them. Jana asked me to take pictures of them after the sealing.

The whole family

Jana and Daniela

This is Jana and Ricardo's oldest daughter. I normally don't do this type of photography, but this picture just looked so good in this style! I couldn't resist!

We had a wonderful time and are so thrilled that Daniela gets to be part of an eternal family.
